The month of June is a special time throughout the Church to contemplate the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the greatest expression of divine love revealed in Christ. For the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, this devotion is the source and center of our spiritual, missionary, and communal life. During this time, we are invited to turn our gaze to the pierced Heart of Christ, from which mercy, forgiveness, and unfailing tenderness flow.
A Love That Gives Without Reserve
The Heart of Jesus reveals a love that never tires, a love that reaches out to every person, especially those who suffer the most. It is a love that heals wounds, consoles broken hearts, and remains faithful even in the face of rejection. As St. Margaret Mary Alacoque wrote, "This Heart burns with love for people and spares nothing to show them this love."
Mercy: The Language of the Heart
Throughout His ministry, Jesus touched the harshest realities with compassion and tenderness. Mercy was not just a feeling for Him, but a way of acting. He welcomed sinners, forgave those who had failed, and drew near to the outcast. In the Heart of Christ, we find hope for a new beginning, the certainty of being deeply loved, and the call to reconciliation.
Living the Merciful Love
As Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we are called to be living signs of this merciful love. This means loving generously, forgiving courageously, serving humbly, and standing beside those most in need of care and listening. Every act of kindness, every silent presence, every word of encouragement makes the Heart of Christ visible in the world.
An Invitation to Trust
In this month of the Sacred Heart, let us allow ourselves to be touched by this transforming love. Trusting in the Heart of Jesus means recognizing that we are not alone, that there is a greater Love sustaining our struggles and joys. He continues to tell us: “Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart” (Mt 11:29).
